Online petition: Steve, please do something!

To: Steve Jobs, CEO, Apple

Dear Steve,

The time has come that we, the Apple-Mac users in Greece, call upon your help and ask for Apple’s attention.

In an attempt to stimulate the interest of those responsible for the ongoing, unacceptable situation in Greece in regard to Apple products and service, the “wewantAppleGreece.com” has been created by Greek Mac users.
We, the clients and end consumers of apple products, have long been left out of every new Apple development taking place in the rest of the EU. The service and support provided by several companies in our country do not follow even the basic standards set by Apple companies worldwide.
It is extremely important for one to realize that the percentage of the Mac platform in Greece today is much higher than that presented by the incomplete Greek IMC statistics which left out details of other Mac independent importers, sales from Europe, USA, etc. Despite the bad service and lack of support in our country, we still have a surprising high - and growing! - number of Mac users.
We are faced with closed doors at the local IMC, however with the immense effort of Mac users across the country, local Mac communities have been set up to provide support and to promote Apple products within our country.
We stand united in our quest for a competitive Apple products market, as well as real help, support and service for these products, set at the same high standards as the rest of the EU.

Mac users in Greece have come together to sign this petition and call for Apple Inc. and your help to set up Apple Greece, or even better “Apple Hellas”.

Steve, please do something!

We thank you for your time and eagerly anticipate your reply.
The Greek Mac users and friends.

Sincerely,
The Undersigned

All the above text is our online petition “Steve, please do something!”. The petition was uploaded on 27th of October, 2006 and it is still accessible here; no reply from Apple Inc. until now.

i want apple!!!!

Θέλω να πωλούνται φθηνά προϊόντα της Apple στην Ελλάδα. That means: I want to buy cheap Apple products in Greece.

I think it is very good!

I second anything that will kill Rainbows poor handling of Apple in Greece. I have never experienced such lame handling and marketing as Rainbow‚ having a shop full of Apple products where you can’t buy anything? What is that? On top the staff in the shops are wildly indifferent and seem clueless. They could just as well be selling women’s lingerie.

I have found one solid provider in Kolonaki‚ I forget the name‚ I just know where it is‚ it also has music instruments and more‚ but avid Apple people and with little support they still provide a nice but still insufficient range overall.

Thank you for hosting here‚ scouting for a new way to still my Apple appetite I linked here‚ and happy to find that someone is beating a drum in an otherwise lethargic country where it matters.

Apple matters and if someone will direct me to where I will be able to best buy a supported iPhone coming up‚ an email would be much appreciated‚ in english of course.

Best regards CSkjott

US citizen looking for Iphone support & product in Athens Greece!! On assingnment in Athens and all of Europe, middle east...thought apple had a little more global vision!  Need support now, not in three weeks when I return.  VERY DISAPPOINTED!

Good luck with this! I wonder how your campaign is going now?

I have relatives in Greece, and my cousin was talking about this when he came over…

Unfortunetly is seems that most petitions, while having good intentions, don’t really have what it takes to have a true impact. People just don’t take them seriously anymore, especially the online ones…

Nice petition

I think for this Apple as a company must accept some responsibility, since they seem not to care about the Greek market either. I know from the tech department manager of fnac that at present out of every ten computers they sell 9 are Macs, which shows how much this market has been waiting for Macintosh availability. But he also told me that though they have huge demand for Mac Books for example, Rainbow has such long delays in delivery, that many customers become frustrated and cancel their orders.

Both Multirama and Plesio stores now sell Macs in Greece. I don’t know what the waiting time is - if any - but I’m sure you’d have a better experience at either chain.

Also, I happened to meet an Apple employee (Greek-American) here in Galaxidi a few weeks ago and gave him the basic overview of the problems with Mac service and availability here in Greece. He understood the problem and although he works on the U.S. East Coast he said he’d follow through with Apple Corporate. I also gave him this web site address.
