Apple is looking for a marketing manager for its upcoming South Africa retail shop, according to a job listing advertisement, ifoApplestore inform us.
The manager’s position will be responsible for “large project implementation, marketing and recruitment within the Apple Retail Department.” The listing says specific responsibilities include, “the ability to create and implement marketing quarterly strategies, plan and implement Apple’s retail roll out as well maintaining certain aspects and operations of the retail touch points.”
“We’re in the driving seat when it comes to innovation, and it’s clearly apparent that the local market here not only understands but appreciates innovation,” says Steven Davis, Head of Marketing for Apple Southern Africa on a report at MoneyWeb.
Apple’s year-on-year sales in Southern Africa have literally exploded over the past 24 months, doubling CPU sales between 2004 and 2005, and then again between 2005 and 2006. Furthermore, the company also now commands over 70% of the market share in digital music players in South Africa.
Fabio of setteB.IT inform us also that there are already five Apple Centres and other five “store-in-store” at locations of Cape Town, Pretoria and Johannesburg.
